Contract Facilities Engineer

Torxen Oil & Gas Ltd. is a private, fast paced, dynamic Oil and Gas company, with operations located in the south-eastern area of Alberta called the Palliser Block; producing the better part of 60,000 BOE/day of production with a diverse product portfolio consisting of a 60% gas and 40% oil production.

Torxen is currently recruiting for a Contract Facilities Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Facilities Engineering & Construction. The successful candidate will be a member of a multidisciplinary group of people who are collectively responsible for the development, construction, and abandonment programs within the Torxen assets. Your work will include project management of capital and maintenance projects, supporting/identifying opportunities for enhanced production, cost reduction opportunities, improvement of reliability and safety, debottlenecking, and emissions reductions.  The successful candidate should possess exceptional communication skills, demonstrate a positive attitude and be a highly motivated self-starter. Technical acumen is a significant benefit.

Responsibilities:

  • Act in a project management capacity to execute capital development and maintenance projects from initial concept to completion

  • Provide support to functional teams relating to facilities development plans for the asset.

  • Develop, review and approve IFC drawing packages.

  • Manage and report on projects’ budget.

  • Ensure facility designs are in compliance with regulatory requirements and Torxen specifications.

  • Participate in the development of operating and maintenance procedures.

  • Participate in the area production and development team meetings to ensure alignment of priorities with the team as well as liaise with the field operations and construction staff on work prioritization.

  • Provide technical support for Operations and Production such as troubleshooting and problem solving of production facility issues.

  • Encourage safety awareness within your projects and actively promote safety in the field during field visits.

  • Work closely with Operations Superintendents, Senior Operators, Maintenance Supervisors, Construction Supervisors, and a Team of Engineers and Technicians to create value for this asset.

 The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) degree with 5-10 years’ experience.  Must be registered as a P.Eng. in Alberta and able to authenticate professional work products.

  • Fully versed in AER, ABSA, CSA, ASME codes and regulations.

  • Willing to travel to the field. Field locations are accessible via day trips.

  • EPC Project engineering experience is a must-have.

  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail.

  • High level of energy, enthusiasm, and the willingness to learn.

  • Comfortable and professional while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
