We have a contract position, with potential for permanent employment, for a motivated Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join our team and learn the many aspects of our business. This is a field position, working out of our Brooks office, responsible for assisting our teams in the health, safety, environment, and regulatory compliance on our work sites. Supporting both our capital and operations teams will expose the successful candidate to many facets of Torxen while providing an opportunity to build a professional network.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Culture: Ensures that equipment and procedures meet or exceed all applicable government and Torxen Safety guidelines. Participates in the promotion of a positive safety culture; “Our work is never so urgent or important that we cannot take the time to do it safely”. Actively engages with staff and contractors to reinforce safe behaviors.

  • Quality Assurance: Inspects our worksites to ensure all relevant OHS laws and Torxen policies are being complied with. Work with our production and capital teams to identify and fill any gaps identified.

  • Collaboration: Provides technical and reporting support to Torxen teams. Analyze incident management submissions, advises workers, and participates in potential corrective actions to resolve or eliminate the hazards. Assists with key performance indicators and promoting them to the workers.

  • Technical Writing: Participate in writing technical documents in the Safety Management System. Produce technical reports of the status of our worksites and workers behaviors that affect the risk profile to Torxen.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: at least 5 years of HSE experience

  • Education: At least two years in a related field with a Certificate, Diploma or Degree

  • Computer Proficiency: MS Office applications.

  • Knowledge: Alberta OHS Act, Regulations and Code.

  • Skills: Team player with a positive attitude who can self-motivate as well as take direction.

    • Effective written and oral communication skills.

    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible is crucial to success in this role.

  • Requires valid class 5 driver's license (Driver abstract is required).
