FIELD ENGINEERING INTERN (FIELD BASED - BROOKS OR DRUMHELLER)

Torxen Oil & Gas Ltd. is a private fast paced, dynamic Oil and Gas company, located in the south-eastern area of Alberta called the Palliser Block, with the better part of 60,000 BOE/day with a diverse product portfolio consisting of a 60% gas and 40% oil production. Torxen currently has a 4- or 8-month field-based opportunity for an Engineering student (any discipline), starting May 1, 2024. This opportunity has the chance of becoming long term employment – the candidate must have completed at least the 2nd year of their university degree.

About this Opportunity:

As an Intern, you will be given the opportunity to apply your academic training and skills in a real-world setting at any number of project locations. Reporting to the Superintendent, Production and getting regular direction from the Senior Operator, as well as the Production Engineering Lead, the primary responsibility of this position is to effectively participate as a team member in the safe operation and maintenance of our oil and gas wells and associated facilities in the Brooks/Drumheller, Alberta areas.

The Operations team ensures the maximum performance of mechanical, instrumentation and facilities, while managing the day-to-day operation of wells, pipelines, multi-well batteries, compression facilities and oil facilities, adhering to all applicable regulations and corporate guidance.

The successful candidate/s will reside in the Brooks and/or Drumheller areas.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Responsible for assisting the Operations Team manage the day-to-day operation of wells, pipelines, multi-well batteries, oil facilities and gas compression facilities

  • Assist in the well and facility monitoring and maintenance

  • Complete production accounting with PVR

  • Assist with production optimization, trouble shooting and equipment maintenance

  • Work in a team atmosphere and take on a variety of operating challenges

  • Willing to work extra hours and be on-call as required

  • Learn, understand and perform safety, environmental and regulatory responsibilities, such as hazard identification, equipment lockout, emergency response and safe work procedures

  • Identify and scope out opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs and eliminate downtime

  • Perform housekeeping, performance monitoring and maintenance activities

  • Work closely with the Calgary based Engineering team

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2nd year engineering student or up to candidates completing university this year, proof of education will be required.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to relevant A&D policy requirements, including pre-assignment testing

  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license (drivers abstract is required)

  • First Aid and CPR certifications will be required

  • Working knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suite is an asset
